"Live long and prosper" -The guy who died last year

I've seen like 2 star trek episodes outside of class. One had a Federation guy who took over a country using old Nazi techniques, swastikas and all. The other episode I saw was the one where Q first shows up and the crew is put on trial for humanities crimes. I don't think I finished the episode, but in the end they proved that humans are pretty cool. Fast forward like two seasons and then the Borg completely annihilate them. Good times.

When I watched the trial for humanities crimes episodes, I thought there would be more social commentary stuff by directly referencing human crimes like destroying the planet, but it wasn't as much as I expected.Instead they went on about human nature and how they're persistent and can overcome challenges, and how Q doesn't stay true to his word.

In this photo, we see Q serving up some hot justice in the form of a fair trial he called a fair trial but wasn't actually one. What a guy.

Imagine being Q. You can do anything you want, so what do you decide to do? Mess with a starship. What a guy. I mean, what else s there to do? if you went around soling problems on planets you would be done in like 20 minutes. You could play and hang out with other Qs but you would get bored after a while, especially if you're as old as he is. Plus the Enterprise crew seems like a pretty cool group. I wonder if Q was the reason the Boston Tea Party happened.

What if replicators were real?  Would they be available in stores? Would hey be able to replicate life?
Would they be heavily monitored so that money didn't get messed up? Would we even need money?
What would we fight over if ownership isn't an issue?
Who will build the roads?
What d you fight for Mr Anderson, why do you persist?
Who you gonna call?
has anyone ever been as far as decided to look more like ?

  1. Nice broadening into sci fi as a genre at the end, there. ;)

The episode you're thinking of is "Encounter at Farpoint," the pilot episode of the show. It's a two-parter so you may actually not have seen the end. And YEAH, right--this whole show is about how humans are persistent and ultimately good. The need for money has, in fact, been eliminated. It's a utopian view of society, but it's also a pretty rosy view of human beings--that we are intrinsically good if you take away some of our obstacles. Q makes the opposite argument (I think out of boredom--your reading on is insightful), and the Enterprise crew disprove it.

  2. I don't see a reason why replicators couldn't replicate life, seeing as they can replicate meat, which is just cooked life. The only problem that I can see is that if that life is never made to be alive you would just have replicated a load of meat in the shape of what you were replicating.

  3. But would stores even exist because you can just replicate whatever you want. Maybe instead there's like giant malls with jst replicators and ppl can go in and jst replicate whatever they want, or they start being built into homes like an ac unit or whatever so you can just get what you want whenever.

  4. I never thought abou Q being bored. I kind just thought he was mean. It kinda explains why he's so annoying and persistent. He doesn't have much better to do. Also he got kicked out of the Q continuum by the other Qs so like whoa, little bit of a loser. You summed it up well with "what a guy".
